In They Come!

Hi Everyone,

We have six new ones for you today. Six great, wonderful new ones. The more of these that come in, the more blown away I am by them. There is such a freedom to them. Some are funny, some are hopeful, some are bitter, some are strange, all of them are honest.

They just keep coming in! So, check back soon!

no. 7 and no. 8

Hey everyone,

Two more to share! We've received quite a few for being so far from the deadline!

This one was sent to me in a special envelope from the USPS. They apologized for its mangled state, saying that these things happen. I think it adds character.

Two new arrivals!

Two more postcards found their way to my mail box this weekend. It's so exciting to hold in my hand the trace of two people, strangers, separated from me and each other by miles and timezones.

I'm realizing now that some of you may not be familiar with the project. Check out the ABOUT page for more information.

Until next time, here you go:

Welcome!

All of this started a while ago. It's a shame I'm only now becoming tech-savy enough to make a blog about it, but better now than never.
I am a senior at Moore College of Art & Design. I'm double majoring in 2D Fine Art and Curatorial Studies. Where Are You?, my curatorial thesis, is a mailed, participatory exhibition that examines examples of contemporary mail art.

I received almost two hundred addresses, and into the mail it all went.

The participatory aspect of the exhibition is as follows:

Every recipient was sent a blank postcard and a random forwarding address (someone else in the exhibition mailing pool).
They were asked to start a piece of mail art and send it to their recipient.
The recipient finishes the piece--in a beautiful act of anonymous collaboration--and mails it back this way,

which is where this blog comes in.
I'll be posting the finished work as I receive it. They just started coming in, so check back soon!

Here is the first one...
